Snow Days // Snow Daze

For over three years Beverly and Coco have barked at each other through the fence, running back and forth playing together, but always separated, by fate. Finally, last week, their relationship was changed forever by the snowbanks rising above the 6′ fence and allowing them to wrestle and play in the same yard. It’s all fun and games until Coco is not outside though, and Bev continues on into the street to search for fun elsewhere. She found herself inRead more

A sunrise and a sunset

Unable to sleep in (went to bed late and drank too much), I went for a 5.5 mile run around town this morning, and was rewarded by spectacular clouds and sunlight beaming through the fog. It was exactly what I needed to kick the hangover. Throughout the day, the clouds and colors were absolutely brilliant. I couldn’t wait to get out again for another run after work. I headed up to the Donner Rim Trail, via Negro Canyon, towards SummitRead more

Soccer until sunset

Avian has been dreaming of playing soccer for years, and by some miracle I managed to sign her up in time not only for the season, but for the AYSO British Soccer Camp this week. She loved her first day at camp, and continued to wear her shin guards, cleats and carry her new soccer ball around all day. After dinner we went back to the fields and practiced until the sun set.    Read more

Summit Canyon-Donner Pass-Tinker Knob- Coldstream Canyon

My kids have been away on vacation for two weeks, and each day apart the ache in my heart (and lately my stomach) increases. The pain is almost overwhelming, and the only thing I thought would make me feel better was a long trail run. Or, as long as I could handle, coming off of a 50 mile race last weekend. Perhaps I wasn’t quite ready yet. We started at the Summit canyon trailhead near the bottom of old HwyRead more

on tapering

my kids are back east for 2 weeks.  I am supposed to be tapering for a 50 mile run. my stress level has been at an all time high. I hate tapering, but in particular I hate it when my life is such a mess that the only way for me to stay sane involves running. Monday, I worked 8 hours then met my friend Greg for a run on the Tahoe Rim Trail at Brockway Summit.  It was a record-breakingRead more

Warren Lake Trail Loop

13.6 miles, 2,746 ft gain, Start and Finish at the PCT Trailhead South of I-80. Chaz, Chris, Bill and JP.  I have always loved the Warren Lake Trail, and this evening run did not disappoint. Our original plan was to do an out and back to Warren Lake,   but when we got to the intersection of the Warren Lake and Devil’s Oven trails, we decided to make it more interesting and do a loop instead, which brought us byRead more

Coldstream Canyon

Coldstream Canyon to PCT and back. 16.1 miles, 2,803 ft gain. I did this solo run the morning before I left for a 2 week trip to Michigan via train, with my 7 year old twins. Felt like I needed to get some energy out before being trapped in a train for 48 hours with my super hyper children. It worked for me, although I wish I would have done the same for them! Parked at Donner State Park, followedRead more
